Class Overview

Class Technology
Most assignments will be assigned and returned through Google Classroom. That being said, due dates get pushed back and not every assignment is graded, so please rely on the blog and Infinite Campus for due dates and missing assignments respectively.

Student Handbook & District Policies
Please refer to this Google Folder to view the student handbook and important district-wide policies. Parents: Please sign the verification form sent home on the first day of school after reviewing these documents with your child.

Seventh Grade Syllabus
General information about Rocky Top's seventh grade policies can be found in the Seventh Grade Syllabus.

What are we going to learn this year?
Seventh grade social studies is all about the history, geography, economics, and civics of the Eastern Hemisphere. We will study what life was like in different places throughout time, as well as practice the skills necessary for a social scientist and responsible citizen. The year will begin with Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia and end with the modern trend of globalization.

If you were not able to make it to Back to School Night, you can find the PowerPoint shown here: Back to School Night Presentation.

Ms. Maynard's Philosophy
Ms. Maynard believes...
Therefore, Ms. Maynard will...
And, students will...
All students can learn.
Set high goals for us to reach and measure our progress (academically & behaviorally).
Participate in classroom activities every day in a positive manner.
Everyone learns differently.
Give you choices for how to learn.
Communicate your needs as a person and a learner.
Everyone deserves respect at all times.
Always treat you respectfully.
Show respect for others in the way you speak to them and work with them.
There are always reasons for misbehavior.
Give you opportunities to address the reasons for misbehaving before giving consequences.
Show respect for yourself and your abilities by trying hard to improve.
We are responsible for our actions.
Hold you accountable for your behavior and learning.
Take responsibility for your actions and learning (no excuses).
There is no such thing as failure.
Never be upset with your (or my) failures and give you opportunities to learn from your mistakes.
Be proud of your failures and learn from them.
